Trustees are the people in charge of a charity. They help to make the UK the sixth most giving country in the world. They play a vital role, volunteering their time and working together to make important decisions about the charity’s work. Trustees’ Week is an annual event to showcase the great work that trustees do and highlight opportunities for people from all walks of life to get involved and make a difference.
There are 600 voluntary and community organisations in Orkney and over one third of these organisations are registered charities. All these organisations have trustees/committee members so there are a huge number of individuals giving their time and skills to shape delivery of services and manage staff and volunteers.
The national focus of Trustees Week 2016 is ‘Stronger Charities through Good Leadership’ and to support this theme, VAO ia sending out a ‘Trustees Week Briefing Paper’ each day (Monday to Friday), focusing on a different topic and theme.
Monday: Gift Aid
These Briefing Papers are designed to ask you questions, challenge your existing ideas, suggest potential new ones, and see if anything you currently do, could be done differently.
Please click here for previous briefing papers on a range of topics.
VAO offers a range of support and training designed specifically to support board members/trustees groups and committees. We hope that you find these interesting and of use, and if you would like to discuss this or anything else to do with Trustees Week, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us.
