Action Medical Research provides support funding to hospitals and universities throughout the UK to enable them to research into childhood diseases and disabilities.

Since it's inception in 1952 £115 million pounds has been spent researching into polio, Down's Syndrome, Retts Disease, Cerebyl Palsy, Cystic Fibrosis, brain diseases, genetic diseases and many, many other conditions, some of which are very rare.

Many families in Orkney will have benefited from the work which has been funded by the charity of the years.

We have a very small committee in Orkney who fund raise annually with a coffee morning, collecting and emptying the two big Paddington Bears in the airport and the Kirkwall Co-op and selling cars at the Charities Bazaar. If you would like to be part of our committee you would be very welcome - just contact avril@btinternet.com
