Kirkwall Bowling Club was established in the 1860's and the club has continued to flourish over the years. The principal aim of the club is to promote the game of bowls played in accordance with the laws of the Scottish Bowling Association. With consistantly in excess of 100 members the club provides a sport that can be played by all ages and offers our members and non-members companionship and exercise with a competitive edge in an excellent environment. The membership fee is £60 per annum with much reduced rates for juniors. The playing season on grass is April to September when the green is open in the afternoon and evenings on Monday to Friday and afternoons on Saturday and Sunday. Play on the all-weather green is at the same times all year round, weather permitting. Tuition is provided to all new players and separate arrangements are made for coaching young people. Throughout the year, the club hold a large number of competitions both in-house and with visiting clubs. Always conscious of the need to provide an excellent facility to its members and visiting players the committee and members work hard to ensure that the club is run to a high standard and continues to be inviting to players and newcomers.
