Volunteers for OAAS are available to support people being interviewed by the police who have communication difficulties. These may include people with special needs, brain-injuries, those on the autistic spectrum and people with psychiatric illnesses. Volunteers attend solely to facilitate effective communication between police and the interviewees, who may be victims, witnesses, suspects or accused persons. Full training and support are given to volunteers.
