About the UNCRC and the UNCRC Act 2024

You might have already heard that there is a new law which protects the rights of Children in Scotland, the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) (Incorporation) (Scotland) Act 2024.

The UNCRC Act makes the children’s rights from the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (the UNCRC) part of the law in Scotland. The UNCRC sets out a list of children’s rights which are the things that all under 18s need in order to live a safe, healthy and happy life. You can read a simplified list of these rights here.

About this Opportunity

The Scottish Government have been developing a Children’s Right’s Scheme now that the UNCRC Act has been passed. This scheme will include all the actions Scottish Government Ministers will need to take, to make sure children and young people’s rights are respected in Scotland.

The Scottish Government would like to hear your views on their current draft of the Children’s Right’s scheme. In particular, they’re keen to know whether the scheme meets your expectations and if not, what you think needs to be included to make sure children’s rights are protected.
