There is a Mobile Library service for rural and island areas and a Home Library Service.Orkney Archives is based in the main building in Kirkwall and is invaluable for researching family or local history and culture of Orkney. The Orkney Room houses a collection of published works about Orkney while the Photographic Archives contains more than 60,000 images with the earliest dating from the mid-nineteenth century.
