The Papay Co-op is a community-owned organisation that provides and manages key services on Papa Westray, notably the community shop and the island hostel. The shop is a well-stocked licensed premises where most islanders and visitors do the bulk of their shopping. The 3-star hostel has 6 rooms, all with sea views, as well as 2 kitchens, a lounge and dining room and space for campers. It also hosts the bar, which opens on a Saturday night, often with live music and the dining room serves as a popular venue for island dances, cinema and other events.
